Description: At five stories tall and an expression of the International style, the post office and distribution center is a 13.87 acre site in northwest Portland. Besides the main building, the site includes a 10,025 square foot lubritorium (1962), a multi-story parking garage (early 1980s), and an exterior parking area.
In 2016 the entire site was acquired for redevelopment by the Portland Development Commission, now known as Prosper Portland. The Post Office is expected to move out of the building in 2018, leaving only the retail operation open. The 1962 building is likely to be demolished, although may be re-used on an interim basis until plans for the redevelopment are finalized.
